I have a simple question for our elected officials who blindly follow President Trump: Who do you think you are? The Constitution is battered when it suits your purposes. Laws are violated and irresponsible access to government data are permitted for political purposes. You think you can say or do whatever you want, damn the consequences. And truth is corrupted while lies are presented as truths—e.g., fake news and which country started the war in Ukraine. In reality, you’re only first among equals, in light of your elected office. You’re not God, or a King or a Queen, contrary to what you may think. You’re not smarter, and it certainly doesn’t mean you’re wiser. You don’t hold a higher moral ground, and you’re bound by the same laws that govern our Republic, despite your attempts to bend or break them to serve your purposes. You’re simply first among equals. Yet, you regularly forget the meaning behind the words: among equals. We have the same Constitutional privileges as you. We can question and challenge your policies and decisions. We have the right to speak the truth; we have the right to protest. Metaphorically speaking, we sit at the same table as you. But there isn’t a throne at its head: it’s a round table. And while you may forget or ignore this fact, we don’t.
